We are currently seeking a freshly graduate Research Fellow to join our research group, under the supervision of Dr. Alessandro Kovtun.
Scope: study of membranes for the removal of emerging pollutants from water under the PRIN – VOGA’N WATER research program for the following topic: “Vertically Oriented Graphene Assembled Nanostructures for WATER purification (VOGA’N WATER).”
The expected start date for this position is June 1st, 2024.
Requirements
This is a strongly interdisciplinary project, and we welcome applications from candidates holding a master degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, Pharmacy or Agriculture. Fresh graduates with a desire to embark on their research journey and the ability to join our group promptly are encouraged to apply. As a Research Fellow, you will be responsible for managing laboratory activities, overseeing small-scale project management, and coordinating various tasks to meet project deadlines. Active participation in group meetings, generation of high-quality figures and drafts for publication, and representation of the research group at external meetings and seminars are also key aspects of the role.

You will have the opportunity to delve into one of the following cutting-edge research areas:
- Materials Chemistry
- Analytical Chemistry
In the project we will deal with the synthesis of a new class of organic membranes, together with researchers from the universities of Padova and Sassari, using two-dimensional materials (graphene oxide) and sol-gel techniques; then we will study how pollutants interact with these membranes, both at equilibrium (adsorption isotherms) and in operating flow conditions (loading curves).
The Institute
You will work at ISOF, which is one of the 89 institutes of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) established in 2002.

Contract Terms
This position is a full-time temporary employment for one year.
Certificates needed
a) A degree obtained in accordance with the regulations in force prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99, or a Master’s Degree (Ministerial Decree of 5 May 2004), with a professional curriculum suitable for carrying out research activities;
b) All qualifications obtained abroad (degree, doctorate and any other qualifications) must, as a rule, be previously recognised in Italy in accordance with the relevant legislation in force (information on the website of the Ministry of Universities and Scientific Research:

The equivalence of the aforementioned qualifications obtained abroad that have not already been recognised in Italy in accordance with the above-mentioned formal procedure shall be assessed, solely for the purposes of the candidate’s admission to this selection procedure, by the selection board set up pursuant to Article 6, paragraph 1 of the Specifications;
c) experience in the field of the subject referred to in Article 1, declared in accordance with Article 4;
d) knowledge of the English language
e) knowledge of the Italian language (only for foreign candidates).
