PUBLIC CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE AWARD OF ONE (1) RESEARCH GRANT FOR GRADUATES FOR RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF CHEMICAL SCIENCES AND MATERIALS TECHNOLOGIES,WITHIN THE PROJECT “LIFE REMEMBRANCE 2020” TO BE CARRIED OUT AT THE CNR INSTITUTE FOR ORGANIC SYNTHESIS AND PHOTOREACTIVITY (ISOF) in BOLOGNA.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: NOV 7th 2025
Research Grant Topic: Give plastic wastes from the production of hollow-fiber membranes a second life.
Duration of the Research Grant: Six (6) months, renewable for up to a maximum total of thirty-six (36) months.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
a) Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree (Laurea Magistrale/Specialistica) in Chemical Sciences (LM-54).
Candidates holding a degree obtained from a foreign university may also apply conditionally.
b) Candidates must not be 35 years of age on the closing date for submission of applications.
c) Candidates must possess knowledge and skills relevant to the topic of this research, specifically:
Scientific expertize
• Organic synthesis and chemical functionalization of graphene oxide-based materials and their composites for environmental applications;
• Design and characterization of adsorbent materials derived from industrial plastic waste for selective adsorption processes;
• Advanced material and surface characterization techniques (e.g., FTIR, UV-Vis, XPS, SEM, and contact angle measurements);
• Chromatographic analysis for the monitoring of emerging pollutants (HPLC-UV, UPLC/MS/MS).
d) Candidates must not have any family or kinship relationship, up to the fourth degree, with the Tutor, the Director, or any employee affiliated with the host structure.
e) Candidates must have had an international research experience of at least 3 months in a relevant field.
EVALUATION CRITERIA:
Candidates will be evaluated by a Selection Committee appointed by a Decree of the Director of the Institute for Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity (ISOF).
The selection of the successful candidate will be based on qualifications and an interview.
The Committee will have a total of 30 points at its disposal, distributed as follows:
- 10 points for qualifications;
- 20 points for the interview.
The categories of qualifications to be assessed are as follows:
- Primary qualifications: publications, patents, oral presentations at conferences, and posters;
- Secondary qualifications: specializations, certifications, and other relevant titles.
