ISOF Institute of Bologna, in collaboration with other national CNR institutes, is participating in 2025 European Researchers’ Night (NER2025) as part of the Co.Science – Meet Research to connect Science and Society program.
On September 26th, in the setting of the Loggia dei Mercanti in the heart of Milan, the institute devised two engaging activities focused this year on the food and textile sectors.
On one side “Eat the Rainbow – Discovering the Five Colors of Fruits, Vegetables, and Legumes”, a set of food science experiments, quiz activities and games designed to bring young people closer to the science behind fruits and vegetables we eat everyday and to encourage their consumption. Participants of all ages will concretely be involved through a Wheel of questions and riddles and a Comic Book from the Comics&Science series.
But that’s not all. In collaboration with STIIMA-CNR, Institute of Intelligent Industrial Systems and Technologies of Biella, the activity “Let’s Play with Natural Textile Fibres” has been developed as an introduction to the world of textile fibres and their biodiversity: the project offers a natural dyeing workshop and a tactile lab featuring various textures of fibres on display and available to the touch. The playful aspect is sealed by the design of the Serious Games: “Match the Fibre” – a team game aimed at matching fibres to their correct organic origins, and “Textile Fibre Domino” – a tile-based game that replaces the classic domino tiles with microscope images of textile fibres, paired with corresponding source-based tiles to help players learn and remember.
