Varchi Greta

GV holds a degree in Industrial Chemistry and a PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Bologna. She developed an international profile early in her career through research stays in Germany (University of Marburg, LMU Munich) and the United States (Stony Brook University, NY). She joined the Institute of Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity (ISOF) in 2001. She is the author of over 130 scientific publications, several book chapters, and five patent families. From 2017 to 2023, she was an affiliated member of the Houston Methodist Research Institute. Since 2021, she has been Director of Research at ISOF, and since 2024 she has served as President of the Italian Association of Photobiology (SIFB).

Design, organic synthesis and characterisation of bioactive molecules, including small molecules, prodrugs and bi-fucntional molecules such as PROTACs. The research also encompasses the development of functional nanomaterials for combination therapies, with the aim of enhancing therapeutic efficacy in cancer treatment.
