ISOF targets the design and synthesis of advanced materials, including molecular and nanomaterials, natural polymers, upcycled polymers from industrial waste. Main applications of these materials are technologies for water purification from emerging contaminants including PFAS, and contaminants photodegradation, sensors for water quality monitoring, air treatment, and biomedical devices. Sustainable approaches such as green catalysis, as well as electro and photocatalytic processes, are employed to enable environmentally compatible chemical transformations. Advanced computational modelling and artificial intelligence are also integrated to unravel structure-property relationships, optimize processes and application performance.
