BiographyShe holds a degree in Chemistry from the University of Catania and received her PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Bologna in 2016. She has built her expertise across research institutions, universities, and collaborations with industry, developing an interdisciplinary profile in the chemistry of functional organic materials. Since 2025, she has been a Senior Researcher at ISOF. She is the author of more than 60 publications, two book chapters and a patent, and has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences. She holds scientific and organizational responsibilities, has supervised students, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers, and is involved in peer review activities for international journals.

ResearchWe develop π-conjugated organic materials, particularly thiophene-based systems, for applications in bio-optoelectronics, nanomedicine, and energy. Our aim is to finely tune the chemical and physical properties of oligomers and polymers through appropriate chemical functionalization and to control their self-assembly into functional nanostructures (0D and 1D), both in conventional environments and in more complex settings, such as within living cells.
