BiographyHe is Full Professor at the University of Bologna, where he also served as Vice-Rector for Research, and Research Associate at CNR. He is founder and scientific director of the Center for Light Activated Nanostructures (CLAN), a joint University-CNR laboratory devoted to photochemistry, supramolecular chemistry, materials science and nanoscience. His research focuses on light-controlled molecular systems and materials, contributing to the development of molecular logic devices and nanoscale machines. Author of more than 330 publications, he has received several awards including an ERC Advanced Grant. He is a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and of the European Academy of Sciences.
