Postdoctoral NATO Senior Fellow in Biotechnology and Molecular Biology at Kimmel Cancer Institute, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA (1993–94). Research scientist at Italy’s CNR since 1994 to date. Adjunct Associate Professor at Medical school, College of Science and Biotechnology, Temple University, Philadelphia, USA (2002–2005). Director, IFC-CNR Operative Unit in Siena (2006–2018). Worked in the USA (1993–2005), coordinating multidisciplinary teams and NIH-funded projects as PI. Since 2019 at ISOF-CNR, Bologna.

Research activities in the field of biomedicine, focusing on the development of novel therapeutic solutions (pharmacological and biologically targeted) and nano- and supramolecular drug delivery systems aimed at improving drug efficacy, stability, and distribution; development of personalized therapeutic strategies at preclinical level for diseases with high social impact, such as cancer and cardiovascular disorders; study of molecular mechanisms regulating gene function in pathological conditions.
