On Friday, 25 September 2026, the European Researchers’ Night – SOCIETY will return in the main Italian cities, bringing researchers and citizens together through experiments, interactive activities, demonstrations, talks and scientific experiences.

In Bologna, the event will take place across several locations throughout the city: Palazzo Poggi and the University district, the Navile Area and the CNR Research Area in via Piero Gobetti 101.

CNR-ISOF researchers will present several activities designed to make complex scientific concepts accessible through hands-on experiences, to ask questions and discover how science is built.

The activity “Innovative materials for water treatment” will introduce visitors to new materials developed to interact with and remove pollutants from water. The activity is organised by S. Khaliha, A. Pintus, A. Trifoglio and D. Evandri (CNR-ISOF).

Chemistry will also take centre stage with “Metals in Action!”, an interactive journey through oxidation–reduction reactions and the chemistry behind familiar everyday phenomena. The activity is curated by A. Zanelli and A. Torreggiani (CNR-ISOF).

The CNR-ISOF contribution also extends into  “Glial cell research” and the fundamental role in the nervous system. The activity is organized by the  Glial Engineering Lab,

At Palazzo Poggi, at 8:00 p.m., “The Bestiary of Fake News” will explore in a talk the mechanisms behind misinformation, from historical misconceptions and manipulated images to viral content, deepfakes and the new possibilities offered by artificial intelligence. The event, curated by V. Palermo and E. Saracino (CNR-ISOF). In the same location, I. Manet (CNR-ISOF), will explain us “The Superpower of Glucose”.
