Once again, CNR brought science to daily life through play at PLAY 2026, 22-24 May in Bologna. PLAY is Italy’s largest festival dedicated to games and gaming culture, where researchers from across the country participated transforming experiments, strategy, and sustainability into engaging experiences for visitors of all ages.
The event provided a unique opportunity where entertainment, learning, and creativity came together, demonstrating how games can become powerful tools for science communication.

CNR team at PLAY 2026
As part of its Third Mission activities, CNR created an innovative space dedicated to interactive scientific games. Researchers involved in The Language of Research from CNR-ISOF and other CNR institutes guided children, families, and adults through immersive experiences designed to introduce key topics in contemporary science, including energy transition, sustainability, and responsible resource management through gameplay.
